Tracing its origins back to a Melbourne pub in 1840, Australian Unity was founded when a group of eight people formed a friendly society to look after the health and wellbeing of its members. Now, more than 180 years later, Australian Unity is still focused on it’s principal mission of creating wellbeing.
When Australian Unity recently created their flagship Queensland office in Herston, not only was it a requirement for the fit out to match the heritage listing Edith Cavell Building, but to create a warm and welcoming environment that created a sense of wellbeing, not only for employees, but clients and visitors alike.
Creating spaces for meetings, presentations and gatherings of varying sizes was thoughtfully addressed by the exacting design of Ellivo. Zenith were engaged to create a furniture solution that sat lightly within the heritage listed building but fulfilled the dynamic needs of a multifunction space.
Fundamental to the wellbeing of staff is providing workstations that support independent concentrated work. Australian Unity chose Zenith’s Rumba electric workstation: Rumba is exceptionally stable and sturdy, yet uncompromising in visual appeal. The electric height adjustable feature allows for effortless individual customization. Supporting easy collaboration, Rumba can be configured in a number of ways to facilitate individual or collaborative work modes.
One of the most stylish and versatile commercial chairs available, JAC is the quintessential chair for the modern workspace. Its sculpted form cradles and supports the natural contours of the human body, whilst offering a versatile minimalist profile that sits comfortably in a vast range of work areas and industries. Australian Unity elected for the JAC sled stool and JAC sled chair for their breakout area, whilst the JAC tub chairs in 4-star and sled base serve as ideal meeting room and conference chairs. JAC also aligned with Australian Unity’s commitment to support the community: For every JAC sold a tree is planted through Zenith’s sustainability initiative. Currently the One Tree project is focused on Ecological Restoration in South-West WA and creates employment for local indigenous communities.
Kissen Table by Zenith is designed for the physical and functional requirements of today's diverse work modes. Australian Unity chose the Kissen conference for the boardroom due to its wide range of size and finish options, in addition to its omni duct cable options. A table for collaboration whether meetings or social, the Kissen table is the perfect choice for an environment that requires many types of meetings, presentations, and gatherings.
The result is a stylish and subtle interior that rests elegantly within the heritage listed Edith Cavell Building. Zenith were delighted to participate in Australian Unity’s Herston project to create a multifunctional and collaborative environment, by providing furniture solutions that supported the well-being of the Australian Unity team and their clients.
