Ah Ket Chambers is a collective of barristers in Melbourne practising across a range of areas. Inspired by the example of its namesake, William Ah Ket; the first barrister of Chinese origin in Australia, the collective share a common goal of providing an independent, professional and approachable chambers environment.
When Ah Ket Chambers recently sought to fit out their 2-level premises at 500 Bourke Street, they engaged Gray Puksand to design an elegant and urbane environment and McCormack to build it. With an inviting front of house featuring warm timber and biophilic elements, and deep moody tones throughout, the chambers create a subtly sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. Zenith provided a range of stylish, functional furnishings to complement the design aesthetic.
No refined, collaborative workspace is complete without the Jac chair by Zenith. Thoughtfully designed and robustly manufactured, Jac is the perfect juncture of elegance, functionality, and sustainability. Suitable for innumerable spaces, Ah Ket Chambers chose the Jac 4 leg and tub chairs for their expansive breakout area.
For a more immersive seating experience in quiet study zones, the Jac Lounge chair was chosen for its unparalleled comfort. The client selected a cognac colour leather finish to match the warm organic tones within the chambers. Jac is also the ideal choice to minimise environmental impact: For every Jac sold a tree is planted through Zenith’s sustainability initiative. By choosing Jac for Ah Ket Chambers, thirty-two trees have been planted in Southwest W.A.
For independent focused-work areas, Ah Ket Chambers chose the Orbis workstation for its streamlined modern aesthetic. Zenith’s Orbis workstations are customisable to individual height requirements, helping combat muscle inactivity and increase circulation. Some Orbis workstations were accented with Precinct screens; a soft frameless screen solution, Precinct creates defined workspaces, but still supports an open-plan collaborative environment.
The stunning Ah Ket Chambers project exemplifies how carefully chosen furnishings can elevate a workspace; blending elegance, functionality, and sustainability to create a cohesive and collaborative environment. From inviting breakout areas to focused workstations, Zenith’s solutions seamlessly integrate with the design, enhancing both the aesthetic and practical needs of the chambers.
