Auckland University of Technology is New Zealand's leading modern university and one of the largest in the country. Their recent (and largest) development at the university’s north campus, Tukutuku, is AUT’s most sustainable building yet with the lowest CO2 emissions per sqm of built space in Australasia. Designed by Jasmax and engineering consultants Beca, Zenith provided a range of functional and sustainable furnishings to fulfill the building’s objectives of being an environmentally friendly learning space.
A durable and versatile seating solution was required for high volume areas. The client opted for Zenith’s Jac chairs and stools. Thoughtfully designed and solidly constructed, Jac effortlessly fulfills the seating needs for a multitude of spaces and applications. Jac is also the ideal choice to minimise environmental impact: For every Jac sold a tree is planted through Zenith’s sustainability initiative. Currently the One Tree project in New Zealand is focused on restoring native biodiversity in Pamoa Forest.
For a versatile, multi-functional table, Auckland University of Technology opted for the inimitable Kissen. With a charming distinctive leg profile, Zenith’s Kissen has proven a popular choice for collaborative spaces. Designed with the physical and functional requirements of today’s varied work modes in mind, the Zenith design team created the Kissen table to foster connection. Whether collaborative group work or social connection, Kissen is a table created for interactivity.
The Precinct range by Zenith Design Studio is a collection of flexible and versatile structures that offer spatial fluidity for individual and group needs. For study or socialising, Precinct Meet Booth provides a room within a room. With low screen encasings, the Meet Booth caters to the full spectrum of study modalities, providing an enclave for focused study or private teamwork. Its screens hug the lounge and create a private nook for quiet conversations, calls or individualised work.
Zenith’s sustainable and functional furnishings support Auckland University of Technology's vision for environmentally friendly and versatile learning spaces. The A1 Tukutuku building sets new standards for sustainability and collaboration in educational environments.
“Sustainability is central to our decision-making and who we are as a university. It is a commitment we have made for this generation and those that follow, and we encourage our partners, supporters, and suppliers to shift with us. We are incredibly appreciative of our project partners’ efforts in fulfilling, and in some cases even exceeding, our sustainability targets while ensuring the building was completed on time and on budget,” - Professor Salesa.
